6 tips to attract Millennials

We've written about them before: the millennials*. . The employees of the future. Organizations can hardly ignore them anymore. And that's just as well. But how do you get them to come to you? Chances are you are not Apple or Coolblue, where they are queuing up to come and work for you. And more importantly, how do you make them stay? I'll give you 6 tips.

1. Hip, hipper, hippest

It's all the rage: all those hip office buildings with industrial looks, flexible workspaces and game halls. They are popping up like mushrooms. Don't have your own building or your budget is not that big? There are plenty of shared office buildings that are very hip. For example, Treams is in the Microlab in Eindhoven, where we have very inspiring spaces. And what is also important for millennials: a bar for the perfect free mibos.

2. Food is always a good idea!

Having lunch together. Super cozy and also super convenient. Especially if you, as an organization, offer lunch for your employees. Millennials are busy bees and have little time for shopping. Save them this time and make sure there is always a tasty lunch on the table. Fresh and healthy is important here. But the occasional greasy Friday, as we do at Treams, is also a treat.

3. Coffee is like a hug in a mug.

And what coffee... Espresso, ristretto, caffè lungo, latte macchiato, cappuccino and you name it. A little demanding they are huh, but a good cup of coffee is one of the most important things on a Monday morning. And Tuesday mornings too, for that matter. And Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings. And oh yes, also in the afternoons. And actually not just for millennials either 😉

4. Technology is a must

You can't really ignore it anymore, but for millennials, this is really important. And what's especially important is that these software/apps are hugely user-friendly. After all, this is what they are used to. In fact, 70% of HR experts claim that millennials can work faster if they are allowed to use their cell phones and apps instead of laptops or PCs. Mobile first!

5. Room for development

Millennials want to be at the helm of their own development. Grow, grow, grow, that's what they continually want. How they do it doesn't matter much, as long as they have the idea that they are developing. So give them plenty of room for this. Start working on growth perspectives within your organization: what next step can you offer ? When your employees grow, the organization grows along with them.

6. Culture

Core values, vision, mission, atmosphere, being yourself ... Company culture is almost the most important thing for millennials. Honesty, fun, clarity and open communication, just some of the values that millennials find important, but unfortunately still get almost nowhere. Do you want to retain this target group? Then pay more attention to your corporate culture.
Hopefully you will succeed in getting the gold of the future. Off to the moon!

*Millennials: People born between 1980 and 2000.
