BrandDeli

Personal development of employees is becoming increasingly important and more and more organizations are looking for how to facilitate this in the best possible way. And preferably online as well. And so is BrandDeli. It is up to Maartje Rodenhuis, HR Officer, to ensure that employees become aware of their own development and see setting annual goals as a personal challenge.

BrandDeli

BrandDeli is an Amsterdam-based media company offering a wide range of cross-media buying opportunities for campaigns on TV and online.

Get rid of the Excel sheets

"Instead of previous Excel sheet, with three evaluation moments per year, we want to work toward development that is more continuous," says Maartje Rodenhuis. How do you ensure that being engaged in your development is seen by employees as a challenge, rather than an obligation from the organization? "For this, it is important that the new way of assessment & development offers the opportunity to be engaged in this continuously, there must be visibility of the progress of development and it must be easy and fun to use. After comparing different software, we ended up with Treams. In Treams, the employee takes the initiative to set goals. In addition, Treams develops super fast, works super structured and is always open to customer feedback. That is very nice, but also very cool! Exactly what we needed at BrandDeli."

The introduction of Treams at BrandDeli

Time to start introducing Treams to BrandDeli employees. The most important thing when introducing a new initiative is to get employees enthusiastic about the idea. After all, making a change is really not always easy. "A change in an organization is always accompanied by resistance, which is why creating enough support and enthusiasm is very important. By informing everyone about the new system and the benefits it will bring to you as an employee, you can prevent this resistance," says Maartje. "Partly because we as HR put a lot of time and energy into the project and that it is supported by management shows that BrandDeli considers personal development important. A good example follows."

"A change in an organization is always accompanied by resistance, which is why creating enough support and enthusiasm is very important. By informing everyone about the new system and the benefits it will bring to you as an employee, you avoid this resistance."

Ready for takeoff

"Treams advised us to start small and build big to build support. We therefore chose to deploy a test team before going live with the entire organization. It is very nice that we have personal contact with Treams. As a result, requests for options in the system are often processed very quickly and we were able to add last-minute finishing touches." So it all started with a small group of ambassadors.

"Before we went live, we informed every manager about the capabilities of Treams in an interactive presentation. For employees, we organized a quiz. In addition, we created a video set to the song 'Dreams will come alive by 2 Brothers on the 4th floor.' This video made sure that everyone in the office was singing the song all day, so everyone was (and is!) constantly reminded by each other about Treams. Very easy, but super effective!" In addition to this video, BrandDeli distributed chocolate bars with the Treams and BrandDeli logos and Treams mugs as prizes, among other things, to ensure enough enthusiasm.

And now?

Now, several months later, Treams is fully integrated at BrandDeli. For new employees, it is even part of their induction program. "Job applicants often ask what we at BrandDeli do about personal development. You often see back that the possibility to do so is a must for many (especially young) people. Then I can tell them that we have tools aimed at this and that you can continuously track and discuss your own development. Always nice to see how positive they respond to this. They often can't wait to get their login details," Maartje laughs.

Currently, BrandDeli works with an annual HR cycle. Employees set three goals at the beginning of the year, mid-year they evaluate them and at the end you are assessed. "Together with Treams, we are working towards a development that is continuous and the three fixed evaluation moments will eventually no longer be necessary. That way employees can track their own development much better and have insight into where they stand at any time."
