From annual assessment to talent-focused coaching
When Elske de Kok started at Cube in 2021, she was the first HR manager at the company. The company was growing like crazy. HR as a side job was no longer feasible. Since then, Elske has made great strides. The annual performance review has given way to quarterly performance reviews, with light versions, coaches, personal responsibility and a focus on personal growth. And this has brought about a true culture change.

Current situation
Growth is central to the current situation. That can be vertical, but also horizontal. Working from your talent is what it's all about. In this, employees are supported by coaches. Employees are at the helm of their own development. And that took some getting used to, after the old and one-sided assessments. Positive psychology is the guiding principle here. It produces wonderful individual growth cases. And that's what it's all about. A next step? Working with roles and the skills module.

How
Step by step, the new HR cycle was implemented. After an upbeat and fun kick-off, working with feedback was introduced. A conversation with a broader focus on the employee's well-being, ambitions and talents was the next step. The HR cycle now covers a quarter, alternating between a regular cycle and a "light" version. Coaches support employees or teams. The common thread: activating internal motivation. No coercion, but the will to work on your own development as a basis.
