How do you work with feedback in a multicultural organization?

International marketing and engagement agency MCI is characterized by a very multicultural, international workforce. People & Culture Manager Nicole Schaap explains the effect that had when they started working with feedback.

The initial situation
Challenges
The rapid growth of MCI made a new organizational form desirable. The more classical, hierarchical structure had to give way to multifunctional teams with a focus on cooperation and joint responsibility.

Wishes
Personal growth is the basis for valuable contributions to the team. Not a manager, but mutual cooperation should make that possible. Feedback is an essential way to reveal one's own talents and opportunities for improvement.

Current situation
Many steps have been taken, with the difference in cultural backgrounds being a factor to consider. In some cultures, giving feedback is "not done. Customization has proven to be a key word and the focus is on how it can work for you. Meanwhile, a healthy feedback culture has emerged, with even more and more face-to-face feedback being given.

How:
MCI started with a project group to determine the dot on the horizon and the route to get there. During the process it turned out that progressive insight also developed. Small steps and constant adjustments proved to work.

Key tips? The kickstart with Treams started with Feedback Workshop. That really was a very important start! And the power of repetition is not to be underestimated. We continue to give regular attention to the art of feedback.
