Swapfiets, the company behind the well-known blue bicycle tires, and Treams, provider of a performance management platform, have joined forces to offer support in setting goals and creating a continuous feedback culture. Swapfiets is the organization behind the subscription so you never have to worry about a broken bike again. For a fixed amount per month you get a Swapfiets and they make sure your Swapfiets always works.

Swapfiets was born in 2014 from the idea of three student friends from TU Delft. They saw more and more people with a broken bike and thought it could be better. Today, you get a Swapfiets for a fixed amount per month and they make sure the bike always works. Does your bike still break down? Then Swapfiets will come and repair your bike within 24 hours. Is your bike stolen? Then after paying a deductible, you get a new one. Recently Swapfiets celebrated their 5th anniversary with more than 1000 employees spread over 4 different countries. They achieved this growth by working together toward the same goal. Because of this hard growth, there was an increasing need from the employees to grow just as fast.

Employees needed personal development

Over the past year, Swapfiets conducted a survey of more than 1,000 employees, which revealed their need for more personal development. They wanted more insight into their future prospects within Swapfiets and wanted to have their personal goals in focus. The collaboration between Swapfiets and Treams was born. "We were looking for support in setting goals and creating a continuous feedback culture. Our HR department thought carefully about what we would like in a system. After comparing several parties, we ended up with Treams. Treams had thought carefully about what would suit us best and made the translation to the system. Many other parties could also set up the system this way but via a big detour," says Sophie van Neer, HR advisor at Swapfiets.

Setting quarterly goals

Using Treams, employees now have more focus on their personal development. Goals are set each quarter to serve as a guide. In addition, Swapfiets employees now continuously ask and give feedback to each other, which ensures that they know where they stand at any time and can learn from each other.

Building collaboration

In the future, Treams and Swapfiets will expand their cooperation. For example, Treams' software will also be rolled out in Germany in early 2020. In addition, next year there will be additional focus on the growth path of Swapfiets employees. This will give both the employee and the manager insight into the personal development plan, so they know where they stand and where their development potential lies.
