Work happiness

Meaning work happiness

Work happiness is more than just enjoying the work you do. Having happiness at work is having work that satisfies you, excites you, excites you and motivates you. It is a way of working, and in part you control this happiness. However, this does not mean that you are always (work) happy. This is because it also depends on various external factors such as colleagues, your home situation, your workplace and so on. The definition of work happiness is therefore different for each company and depends on the needs of the employees. For example, if there has been a reorganization and people are afraid of losing their jobs, it is very important to regain their confidence before you start working on happiness at work. It is therefore good to know what it means for your employees.

Why is it a hot-topic?

It's nothing new that people like to be happy, but for a few years now, this has also become an important value at work. Values like friendship and happiness are now making an appearance in the workplace. But where did this come from? In the past, organizations used a top-down approach. You had a boss telling you what to do. Those relationships are changing more and more. Employees today have much more power. As a result, work is becoming much more human and personal, and so work happiness is also becoming more important.

What does work happiness yield?

It's not a business model per se, but if we put all the scientific results together, we see that the employee experience of happiness has positive consequences for employees (e.g., openness to new experiences and creativity), and for the organization as a whole. When employees experience more happiness at work, they will be more creative, able to work more efficiently and able to put in great effort. Thus, with more happiness at work, better performance will be achieved. If all this is taken into account in the organization, there will be many benefits (and therefore new business) to be gained in the long run.
