Dr. Alex Klein tells us that long ago he worked as a water sports instructor in the United States. At the sports camp where he was teaching, a Hungarian boy worked with whom he got to talking. He told Alex that he couldn't swim and was made fun of by his friends for that every summer. He wanted so badly to learn to swim. Alex told him, "If you do what you have to do, you will achieve what you want to achieve."
No sooner said than done. After working hours, the boy came to Alex and he taught him to swim. First with a life jacket, in the shallow end, then with a swim board in the deep end. Every day he joined Alex. After one summer, his goal was achieved and the boy could swim. The perfect example of "if you do what you have to do, you will achieve what you want to achieve! The only condition, according to Alex, is that the goal to be achieved must be achievable for the person you are. Alex: "The flip side of this is that my research also clearly shows that we generally know perfectly well what we should do to achieve our goals. However, in practice we simply often don't do this. Therefore, the answer to the question of how to ensure that something becomes a success is very easily put: do what you need to do and demonstrate the behavior you need to exhibit."
Do you do that and achieve your goals ? Then that will give you enormous satisfaction. "You will feel proud of what you have achieved and you will radiate that," says Alex. According to him, however, it is very important that you set no more than three to five goals. "It's simply not possible to pursue seven or eight goals in addition to your busy life. I also always say: ten goals is eleven problems. You can hardly pay attention to each of those ten goals, so the eleventh problem is that you won't achieve any of your goals." Do you think the Hungarian boy could swim after one summer if he also wanted to learn to bike, high jump and skydive that same summer? "No focus is no results."
In this article , Alex Klein talks more about rewarding and celebrating successes.
