Ambition

What does ambition mean?

Ambition means wanting to bring something about. Until a few years ago it was often tied to building a career, to status and to fame. These days it is more about progress. Where do you want to go as a person or an organisation, and how are you going to get there? Ambitious people set clear goals for themselves. They set the bar high and are driven to get the best out of themselves. Organisations now often require you to have ambition, and it is becoming more of a social norm. Anyone who is not moving forward in their development is standing still, and standing still is going backwards. Ambition certainly does not always mean wanting to move up, though. Growing and developing can also happen sideways, by specialising in a particular role or by becoming more broadly deployable in your current one.

What matters here?

It is important always to be looking for opportunities to develop yourself. Using your talents is motivating, and your team and the organisation as a whole benefit enormously as well. But how do you translate your strengths into realising your ambitions? And how do you facilitate that as an organisation?

How can Treams software help you realise your ambitions?

Realising ambitions takes more than one party:

  • the organisation gives insight into jobs or roles and the competencies they require
  • the employee explores their own competencies and ambitions
  • the manager supports the employee in realising those ambitions

The Treams platform brings all of this together: clear, and woven into everyday practice.
